Joining two pipes together is very useful and is a basic skill for plumbing. To join two pipes together you need to know which fittings are compatible with which pipe.

Choosing the corrct type of fitting can make joining pipes much easier. Compression fittings can be used on either copper, chrome or plastic pipe. Solder fittings can only be used on copper pipe and push fit fittings can be used on copper or plastic pipe but not on chrome unless the chrome plating is removed from the end first.
