How to paint walls after stripping wallpaper
I am wondering how to prep these walls for painting, I have stripped the wallpaper off and it looks like some kind of white paint was underneath, after stripping the wallpaper the white stuff has come off and you can plaster, however the white stuff is slightly raised and I am wondering how to get good finish when painted, thanks.

Really need to sand any old paint edges to blend in to the plaster the slightest "step" will show. A "cheats" way around it is a light sand and a product like Polycell Basecoat.

My preferred method is to sand the walls as flat as possible, then size the walls, and then hang lining paper.
My preferred brand of lining paper is Wallrock Fibreliner (75cm Double Roll) and my preferred paste, both for the size and for the hanging, is Wickes ready-mixed.
