Treating new external door

Post by 54aardvark »

I am having a new hardwood exterior door fitted. I want a clear satin finish. I quite fancy Osma but I have heard that it can cause de-lamination. Any suggestions of a good finish which avoids this potential problem. Ideally I'd like to avoid long drying times so possibly water based.

First port of call is the door manufacturer, and ask them what to use.

Thanks bitzz, got back to my joiner and it was a Howdens door. For a change, they were very helpful, looked up the door and they recommended Danish oil. surprised me as I'd only used it internally before but its worked a treat so well chuffed
