I have a window sill to prime then paint, in a west facing bedroom. is it best to avoid doing it in hot weather?

Yes, if you are using water based paint it will go off really quickly and may ridge.

If you are going to be painting in hot weather best to get finished before midday on a west wall, earlier on on an east or south facing.

Painting anything in hot weather or direct sunlight is best avoided. It'll cause more problems than it solves.

Damp down the surface and thin the paint slightly. Paint conditioner can be added, but still better to paint early morning.

Planning my days differently painting only till lunchtime, then prepwork in the afternoons, nigh on impossible to paint down here in Berkshire after about 13.00 at the latest.

Work bloody quickly.

A bit of floetrol in your acrylic undercoat/ gloss/ satin type paints also works wonders.

Today? Buy an air conditioner.
