Coving Paint/Undercoat question
I cant believe none of you "pro's" have used or heard of Mylands paint. Emulsion paint mixed with crushed marble.
I was also hoping someone could recommend a decent roller, for walls/ceilings? should i get synthetic or lambswool or microfibre? and what brand please

Coving Paint/Undercoat question
I am not a "pro", behave yourself. For rollers go back to my "kitchen sink" post, 6th paragraph. I am happy to explain with the caveat I am not a "pro" but just a geek.
Don't take any advice on tools from Tom d'Angler, he only uses the cheapest shite so he can throw it away after a job (or just after a colour change). No not really, he gives the used brushes to his customers and the old dears think he has done them a favour so they put them in their rubbish bin instead of him binning them
PS. He says - if we believe him - he uses the same roller sleeves as I suggested to you in the "kitchen sink".
PPS. If you need explanations of 9 vs 12 inch roller sleeves (3 inches reach the parts other beers cannot reach) just ask The same for length of piles.
PPPS. I have just finished some Calvados - damn wet and cold when I was stroking my large hairy friends this afternoon - so you may or may not get another sensible reply tonight.

Coving Paint/Undercoat question
Mylands Marble is a really nice paint, not disimilar to LG Intelligent Matt. Cracking gear actually.bgatty68 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 16, 2020 4:01 pm I cant believe none of you "pro's" have used or heard of Mylands paint. Emulsion paint mixed with crushed marble.

I'd go with Microfibre or polyamide. Sheepskin tends to spatter worse and leaves more of a texture behind. Purdy & Wooster both do good examples of these. The Purdy White Dove is really nice.
EDIT: Meant to say - If you end up using Mylands, remember to thin it out slightly. It has a 'wrist breaking' feel straight from the tin, and will probably look awful put on straight from the can.

dynamod cheers for the reply, finally someone that has heard of Mylands.
Any ideas where to buy the Purdy or Wooster rollers as I am struggling to find anywhere, maybe because I am a diy(er) and don't have an account at local trade suppliers

Trade centres will happily sell to the public, so you shouldn't have any issues there.
Toolstation and Screwfix have Purdy & Wooster gear.
