What the hell is this and can it be filled?

Hi there are several of these above our kitchen window and patio doors. I've just noticed bees going in and out of them so my question is, what are they and can they be filled with silicone/pollyfilla to deter the bees!? Cheers.

They are weep hole vents don't fill in you can fit some gauze over the vent

You could but chances are they are mortar bees aka masonry bees and will do no harm at all if left undisturbed.

On the subject of Masonary Bees, some years ago I was repointing the poorly maintained stone wall of a building. Every so often a Bee would come along, observe that their normal 'entry route' was now blocked, and go elsewhere.

Initially it was quite unnerving as I tend to have a bad reaction to bites and stings, but these were in no way aggressive. They just hovered for a few seconds and then wandered off to explore a different cavity.
