Is this car speaker knackered?
Hi all
Unfortunately I don't have the means to test it at the moment.... Just wondered if anyone can tell me by looking whether this speaker is dead or still usable?
Cheers

Re: Is this car speaker knackered?
As you said without testing it there is no way you can tell if it is any use or not, although it does look like it has seen better days.
Above are my opinions Below is my signature.
Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
If gloom had a voice, it would be me.

to be fair if you used double sided tape and re stuck it down any distortion is likely to be similar to the resonance when attached to a door card or parcel shelve

No. Unless the voice coil is open circuit (meter test for continuity required) but if it 'makes sound' then it's ok - although hi-fi purists would call me a luddite.
Don't take it personally......

Across the connections dab a supply from a normal AA battery it’s only 1.5 volts certainly the bass section you will see move and the tweeter will make a sound ! If you have no meter just a dab.
