Wiring A 12v TV
I'm buying a 12v TV for my boat, it has a cigarette lighter style adapter so can easily be used by lorry drivers. However, on my boat there are only 12v sockets. Can I just take the adapter apart, or cut it off the lead, and then use the two wires in a round pin plug that I have that fits the socket?

Re: Wiring A 12v TV
It depends what is in the plug, it may have voltage regulation built into the plug, with my caravan I went to Pound World and got an extension lead one cig socket to 2 cig sockets and a USB outlet, I cut off the cig plug and fitted the 12 volt plug used in the caravan. Safer that way as any electronics built into video player plug I have retained, and if I want it will also work in car.

If you cut the lead you must observe the correct polarity as wiring it in backwards may cause irreparable damage.
