hi all, my first post here, i have stripped all my paint of with a heat gun. my question is do i need to use a knotting solution before
repainting. many thanks.

It is worth it as the knots are not absorbent and you may have stripped off the original seal

Yes, it is fine for water based paint over. It is a horrible paint to use and the first coat is streaky but comes good on the second coat. It depends what you have to hand and how many knots to treat. A 1 litre can of BIN is £20 in Screwfix whereas knotting sealer is around £8 a can.

You can often get a small bottle of knotting for about 4 quid..but BIN will do the job, if there is a lot of sun on the door i'd be tempted to use knotting under the bin or at least BIN the first first.dewaltdisney wrote:Yes, it is fine for water based paint over.
