Here I demonstrate how shear nuts work, these anti-theft nuts are extremely good for bolting down items in public places which could possibly be stolen such as benches in parks etc. Shear nuts are available in various thread sizes and are available in stainless steel or galvanised steel. Once the pre-determined torque is applied to the shear nut the hexagon head shears off leaving behind a domed nut which is very difficult to remove.
