What are Quarry tiles?
These are made from unrefined extruded, high silica alumina clay that gets pressed into the desired form and hard burnt. They are hard and durable but have a softer composition than ceramic tiles. It is an unglazed form of tile, which comes in a natural colour selection, red, brown and beiges.

How to cut Quarry tiles:-
Quarry tiles are best cut with a traditional flat bed tile cutter, although a diamond wheel cutting machine may be better suited Please See Here.
Fitting Quarry Tiles
Quarry tiles have been traditionally been used for years, the old method of fixing was in a sand/cement bed as the floor screed was being fitted and butted together often in a brickwork style. This method can still be used particularly if you’re fitting reclaimed tiles and trying to match an existing floor.
Modern materials are also quite suitable, unlike many of the natural products such as marble and limestone, porosity and staining really isn’t an issue with quarry tiles.
The tiles can be fitted in the same manner as any regular ceramic tile and grouted in the same way also.
There are some sealants available for Quarry tiles if you wish to enhance the appearance of the finished floor, be aware though that once applied, these will require continuous upkeep to maintain that new look.
