    Mosaic tiles

Most mosaic tiles are suitable for use in Kitchens and Bathrooms, some are suitable for flooring use in light traffic areas.

Mosaic tiles are normally sold in sheets of 300mm*300mm or similar. The Sheets consist of small tiles which can vary in size but are often 1cm square. These small tiles which are normally ceramic or Glass are fastened to a string, paper or Nylon mesh.

Fitting mosaic tiles can be difficult and lots of patience is required.

Adhesive

Choose an adhesive that is suitable for your particular application. If you are tiling a shower cubicle you will need waterproof adhesive. I recommend non slip adhesive as it is easier to use.

Cutting Mosaic tiles

To cut mosaic tiles you can either use a pair of nibblers or a wet diamond cutter, Glass mosaic tiles will require special nibblers and a special blade is required for cutting them with the wet diamond cutter.

Drilling Mosaic Tiles

Mosaic tiles can easily be drilled with a standard tile drill or for larger holes or holes in Glass Mosaic tiles a Diamond coated Drill bit / Hole saw should be used.

Fixing Mosaic tiles

When bedding the Tiles use a spreader with 3mm notches in it and press them firmly into the adhesive using a rubber float.

Finishing

Mosaic tiles normally only require Grouting
