Hi all,

Well although this isn't about cooking it is about the thing you use..

I have a Zanussi ZBF860 built in oven I think it is around 10 years old. (electric fan assisted). When you cook, say beef or chicken in it, there seems to be like smoke coming from it and instead of having a nice meat smell you get like a burnt smell. I cook on what it recommends not over.

Why do I seem to be getting this smoke and smell? And does anyone else get it.

It seems to be with fatty products, i.e. the beef was covered with lard...

Get a cheap oven thermometer about £4 from department stores...check the reading against what the thermostat is set to.

you may find that the thermostat is faulty causing the oven to overheat.

replacement should cost around £100 + vat
