Hi
Changing the bathroom light which had 2 black, 2 joined red and earth.
New light fitting has 4 connectors, brown, blue and earth plus one spare if it is te end of the circuit.

Fitted red to brown; earth's and one of the black to blue, other one spare. First time fused, so swapped over the blacks, did not fuse, but no light. Why? and how do I remdy?
Any help gratefully received

Cheers

You have wired it incorrectly... but before we get to that... the way you have wired it your light should be permanantly on!
Did you change the fuse when it blew?
Did you check the light bulb?

When you have checked the fuse is wired correctly & the bulb has not blown...
FIRST LABEL THE LOOSE BLACK WIRE YOU HAVE... then rewire...
TERMINAL 1 = ALL EARTHS
TERMINAL 2 = 2 REDS
TERMINAL 3 = BLACK + BLUE
TERMINAL 4 = BLACK (LABEL) + BROWN

Bright_spark
Thanks for the replies :thumbright:
My consumer unit is ancient, so I re-wired the fuse wire, and the bulbs are fine...

I will check the wiring as you labelled below and come back to you
