I rang a customer this morning to say I'd be starting the job tomorrow, but I misdialled and (cutting a long story short) got an old lady who was in dire need of medical help. Mrs Gadget then managed to coax the old lady's name and address from her. We rang the emergency services and managed to convince them that it wasn't a hoax and would they send someone to the address. I'll probably never know who this old lady was, or if she lived or died, but I know if I'd dialled the right number the first time, help would have been much later - if at all!

Well done gadget, :thumbright: Couldnt you ring your local hospital and try to find out if an old lady was admitted on that day?

I did that many years when I helped someone similar to you, the hospital didnt tell me too much,. but just said she was comfortable, so I knew she was still alive.

Thats my biggest fear, to get to a job and find the customer dead - especially if its pay day!

Nice one Gadget.

I bet she will be ok, and if it was someone taking the Michael you would of known by now as they would of been around to arrest you by now, seeing as you made the call.

You could contact your phone provider or wait for the next bill and then ring the number again to find out if she is ok

Good idea, I'll get her number that way I suppose, I just need to see if any numbers are a near match to the one I had intended to dial!

I suppose it could go 1 of 2 ways..

Either she'll not be ok and her family will set their solicitor on you as they will have no one else to blame and a complete stranger cold calling her is the best target they have..
or
She'll be fully recovered and in the mood to tell you to sod off like all the other cold callers that constantly ring her to waste her time..
