Hello

I am about to put a new ceiling plate up, its a 3 spot light: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000OS94XM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

As per instructions it says it needs an earth. Having taken the old light down, it only used neutral and live. There is however other live and neutral wires going into a little connection block. I have never wired up a light that required earthed before.

Could anyone advise on how I correctly wire up the new light please?

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Adam

Images not working. Can you link to them directly rather than something posted on another forum ?

Before 1966 it was common not to have an earth on lights. If you have a house wired before 1966 the answer is simple, you can"t use that light.

If wired after that date the likely the original position of the ceiling rose will have an earth, you just have to find it.
