Hi DylanP, first thing you need to establish is whether your original single garage socket was part of the house ring main or a spur itself.
When you replaced it with a double how many cables were originally there, one would mean it is a spur (Though possibly the end of a radial) two would suggest it is part of the ring..

Hi, Wine~o. When I replaced the single with a double there were two cables plus an earth. I ran an additional double from where the single had previously been. I'm sure if this is relevant or not, but the property is a small 2-bed bungalow. Basically, I'll I'vce done is replaced a single socket with a double and added an additional double. I also installed an outdoor sensor light from the socket, but I ran that through an FCU.

And the garage is attached to the house?

Looking at your consumer unit (Fuse board in old money) are the various "ways" marked, Is there an indication as whether the garage is on a shared ring with the house and what rating do you have on the fuse/ circuit breaker.

Hello,
The garage is indeed attached to the house. I access the garage via my utility area at the rear end of my kitchen.
The garage is marked at the CU, so I can isolate the garage electricity to switch the power off whilst I am working in there, which is what I did when I fitted the sockets.
Thank you.

What rating is the fuse/circuit breaker for the garage?

I'm not sure about that, wine~o. Will I be able to determine that by looking at the CU?
