Hello all -
Disclaimer: I understand that any info provided is for informational purposes only and that I should always seek the opinion of a qualified electrician!

And now here is another annoying post by a "newbie" about wiring a bathroom extractor fan.

Basically I'm in the process of fitting an extractor fan in my en-suite. I've got the unit actually installed in the ceiling above the shower. I've secured it to a joist in the ceiling and have the attached duct running to the exit grill which I fitted in the gable end wall through the ceiling. So, other than wiring it's all done.
Now "all" I need to do is the wiring! I'm certainly no sparky, but I'm not utterly clueless, so I think I might be able to get it done myself - perhapsd with some kind online assistance!
I understand that it should be 3-cored and earthed to a 3 pole isolating switch, but, I'm wondering: could I get away with simply running a permant live, neutral, and switched live to the unit from the bathroom ligh- ie bypass a 3 way isolator? (I know this is against regs, but just "hypothetically"?) If I were to do this will the fan come of/turn off when the light is turned on/off?
I've been reading this old thread, which seems to suggest I could get away with what I'm proposing: shower-fan-light-wiring-t13263.html
Many thanks in advance of any replies.
*** EDIT *** - Apologies, it seems another new member has recently asked something similar!

you could wire it into the light, but like you say it will only come on when the lights on and wont really help with the ventilation in the bathroom and is not practical say when having a shower mid day you would have to have the light on, its pretty simple to wire a Fan iso, if you haven't sorted something out already, just let me know if u need step by step

COM is the permanent live, L2 is the switch side
