Hi guys firstly thanks for any help.

Did an electrical installation course several years ago and there is one subject that has become a little hazy.

I live in a small 2 bedroom cottage with an existing ring supplied with a 2.5 cable.

I want to add 2 double sockets in the main bedroom as the only one is in a totally usless position behind the bed (no I cant just move the bed).

I would like to run a spur from this socket and then run from this spur to another one further around the room. The hazy bit is that I seem to recall you can do this but no more than 2 spurs off the one socket.

The alternative would be to interrupt the ring as the two sockets currently in it are only a short distance apart on either side of a studded wall and incorporate the two new sockets into the ring from the one bedroom socket through the two new sockes and back to the other socket on the other side of the studded wall.

The reason for the confusion is one web site says you can have no more than 2 spurs off one socket and another says only run one.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in anticipation.

:welcomeuhm:

no more than 1 spur unless you use a 13a sfcu.

personally, i never spur anything, i consider it a lazy man's way of wiring. you are going to be putting 1 wire in, why not put 2 in at the same time and split the ring?

100% perfect then.
