you can get cameras with audio not strictly cctv

all depends on budget wifi adds to the cost, you need to get power to it anyway so another cable isn't a big issue

Hikvision cameras aren't bad for the money - the night vision is very good for the cost effective end of the market

Is it me, or did I miss the bit that says it has a microphone? I did see "audio alarm" but no microphone. ... camera.pdf

Thank you for all the replies and comments. The HIK Vision system looks good but a bit too expensive. I understand the limitations of CCTV, especially on a budget. Identifying a stranger using domestic/semi pro systems, at night, is virtually impossible. The individual in this case is the sole reason for the use of CCTV and this person is known so i.d. would not be difficult. The need for audio is the main criteria. I have found stand alone cameras on eBay and elsewhere such as ieGeek Wifi 720p CCTV with audio. This can be placed on a bedroom window cill, inside, but would need an external, wired, microphone. Still looking.

I have a PET cam to monitor mother, the one I have not suitable for outside, however it does have sound and temperature, there is an option to pay for recording, I don't use that option, it uses a motion sensor which starts the recording, since not recorded on the premises any intruder can't erase the recording, it can be remotely moved, but don't think this is automatic, it needs me to move it using phone. tablet or PC, and it needs a phone to set it up, can't be set up with the PC.

Mine is made by Motorola and the server is called Hubble, the server is the main problem, 1 in 10 times when I came to view I found either my broad band, mothers broad band or server was down. It did have a inferred lamp built in so even works at night with all room lights off.

It was an older version of this one Image
