You MUST have an antivirus program installed BUT only ONE.
(you can have more than one but only one running at a time, so it is easier to say only have ONE installed.)

This will give you an idea of what is available:

NOW! That‘s What I Call Software. 1.

Comodo Antivirus is OK, as is Avast.
Microsoft Security Essentials is available now and covers antivirus, antispyware and malware and does it in real-time meaning it protects agains spyware and viruses all the time the computer is on.

At the moment on this PC I have Comodo Firewall, Microsoft Security Essentials for real-time protection and then:
Malwarebytes antmalware (MBAM) and Superantispyware (SAS) for manual scans once a week after running the updates in each one.

dave

Brilliant Dave , there is plenty there to read and choose from thank's again for your time.......Aileen :-)

Aileen, yes I'm REALLY a doctor, well Surgeon actually (bones and joints) - some of the power tools that I use at home are almost identical to some that I use at work!!

Just to sum up..

I use Avast for antivirus
Windows firewall
Malwarebytes, Spybot S&D and superantispyware for malware

Only use ONE antivirus running real time, keep the firewall on all the time, the antimalware programmes can be set to scan when you want
