Grrrrrrr!!! Bought a wheel bearing kit for a 2000 X reg Vaux Frontera only to find the bearing that came off has a chamfer on the inside and the new one is a square shoulder. Phoned the supplier who said no records of any problems with the square shoulder one (not seen a chamfered one) and willing to 'have a look at it'. My problem is, it doesn't bloomin' fit! It just won't go on quite far enough to allow the circlip to fit in the groove on the shaft. Apparently you can run without the circlip and the bearing might seat better through use - not sure I fancy that though.

So can anyone suggest a good place to buy part number 32009 complete with chamfered inside edge, oh, and I'll need a new oil seal too. The original kit I bought cost £56 :cb

Thanks :thumbleft:

Have you tried Vauxhall World Parts? www.vauxhallworldparts.com/
Can't seem to get the site working here today though so might be worth giving Ash a call on 01375 391 931

They have always been great when I've been after bits for my Vectra, quick delivery too.

Thanks Kylie, I'll check them out. Imagine they're pricey though?

Hahaha, searched under the part number and got a gearstick badge and a starter motor! :dunno:

That part number you had doesn't look long enough to be a Vx part number, usually they are 8 digits long. If you give them a call Ashley can usually source most parts. They get the OEM parts direct from the manufacturer so are usually quite cheap.

GSF are good too, but for Vx parts I'd either trust the dealer or VWP.

Hopefully you'll get the part sorted soon though - nothing more annoying than a rumbly bearing!

Where are you?
There's a great shop near here in Helsby Cheshire should have one in but if not can usually get stuff in next day (often even same day) and their prices are very competitive but I don't think they do mail order.
Wouldn't want to run without the circlip myself. Its there for a reason.

Bearing factors sell bearings at a fraction of the price that car spares places, if you can find one online and get the bearing number and oil seal number/size from the old bearing you are laughing

the 32009 is the number of the bearing, not a vauxhall part no.

Tapered roller, 75od, 45id. 20mm wide.

Get the number off the oils seal, and buy that from a bearing factor as well.

£20 should happily cover it.

Well chaps, might have found one on Simply Bearings - looks the part and have ordered the budget one to see if it fits, then will upgrade to a better brand if its ok. Thanks for your suggestiongs, I was going to try the bearing place in Aberdeen but I'm not due to have a trip to town just yet.

Hitch, the number on the oil seal is virtually unreadable!

If you have something to measure it with (accuratly) like a vernier, that will do, or any walk in factor will measure it, and supply.

Dont rely on every brand with the same no to be the same, a budget one may well have a different chamfer to that of an SKF or similar.

I gather there is a bit of a radiused shoulder on what it locates on?
Id ask if its possible to just grind the shoulder back fractionaly, but grinding dust and bearings dont mix well.

Thought about griding or filing the should back a tad, but then thought if it went wrong and even the square shoulder bearing wouldn't fit I'd be in real trouble!! Going to the Big City tomorrow (Aberdeen) where I've heard there is a bearing factor, so will take the old one with me. Thanks for your help, watch this space
