Any ideas as to what type of plastering is on the wall? I'm guessing it's Thistle Browning plaster with multifinish on top, but I've never seen what sand+cement undercoat or rendering looks like so I'm not sure what to use to patch this up.

I'm wanting to do a repair on a meter square area of wall. It initially had damp problems but it's been sorted so I'm hoping to fix the plaster myself.

Carlite browning, or bonding, replace the rusty bead as well.

Thanks, I'll definitively replace that rusty head.

Would Gypsum Browning Plaster be OK to patch this up?

These are the steps I'm taking:

1) PVA old browning plaster and brick work
2) Apply new Thistle Browning to brickwork and build up the wall to original browning plaster level
3) Apply Skim coat (in 2 layers) over old and new browning plaster

Am I missing anything?
