what type of drill for core cutting?

Which drills can core cut - I have heard diffenent things about this? What drill would cut through a cavity wall with a core, and what type of cores do what, are the tungsten tipped ones capable?
I have an 1300w sds plus drill, will this cut cores, or is it best to core cut other things than cavity walls (building block ect)?

Any drill can be used for core drilling, as long as it is powerful enough. You really need one with a safety clutch as they can jam.

I have a 1000w perles drill, without a saftey clutch and sometimes it grabs and I have to fight with it, I have won so far but would not use it on a ladder etc.

I have never used the tungsten ones, but I have diamond core ones and they will cut most materials, although I once lent it to a friend and he could not cut an hole through some bricks, I think he said they could of been calcium silicate.

The Makita 8406s or the hitachi dc120v make good core drills, for diamond bits.

Doth are very torquey due to the low gearing. No hammer required for diamond cores.

There are some dedicated core drill about, but needless to say, ££extra
