Sorry, first time poster though I suspect there will be many more to come! Partner and I have just bought our first house. It's a repo, been empty for over a year, and there's quite a lot of work needing done! We're excited to get to work, but neither of us really have any experience or skill in DIY or Decorating...

Hopefully, a reasonably easy place to start though. The house we've bought is a cottage. All rooms are downstairs, but there is an attic conversion that we will be using as our living room/lounge. Upstairs, in the living room, just to the left of the stairs is this space:

And we have no idea what to do with it! It could potentially make for a great storage spot but we wouldn't want everything out in the open. So do we block it in and make it in to a cupboard? Or does anyone have any more creative ideas? I don't have exact measurements as we don't currently have access to the property (missives haven't closed yet), but at the tallest point the space is a little under 5ft I think.

Any suggestions most welcome! Thanks :-)

The thing that sprung to my mind was to build out a dormer window to give head height and form a study area. However, this might be subject to planning and I guess it would be too costly and beyond beginners DIY skills. Perhaps a few more pics to get some inspiration?

Got kids? Planning any?

Looks like the perfect 'creche' - and a pretty good excuse to start a family - if you need one

sent from my laptop using my fingers - because we REALLY need to know where it's come from.....
