Potterton Suprima 30
A few weeks ago the boiler was cutting out after a few minutes with some banging. The upstairs rads were getting warmish but nowhere near temp being asked.
Perm red light, flashing green on boiler.
The pump seemed free enough with flat screwdriver, but after changing temp sensor and overheat thermostat, replaced the pump and bingo, working. For one day.
Now it fires up fine, seems to run fine. Rads get hot enough to think all might be ok. At first when the red light came on i thought it was possible correct temp had been reached, but it doesn't fire back up. The pump continues running but the water just cools. And then can't be reignited.
Whenever Potterton Suprima gets mentioned it seems to be "change the PCB" but i don't think it's that. Had that fault! Resoldered joints, good as new.
Any suggestions please. Any further info that may help you help me, let me know. |

Have you tried the re-set button.
When you change the sensor did you use the conducting paste. _________________ Scruff |

Yeah, the reset button doesn't do anything.
Didn't use any conducting paste when changing the sensor. Is it possible that not having this causes it to cut out and then not reignite at all?
I was thinking of firing it up with the sensors out of the pipe, guessing if all is well elswhere it shouldn't cut out. Would be mindful of it overheating but I should then be able to rule out the temp sensor and overheat thermostat if it still cuts out???
Is my thinking correct? Any other ideas?
Thanks for your reply Scruff. |

Of course it needs the paste to make a good contact. _________________ Scruff |

| Where's a good place to get it? B&Q, Wickes...? Would they stock it? |

You need a spares outlet, the same place you got the sensor for example _________________ Scruff |
