The p[ast few days I have been unable to use any hyperlinks in emails or word docs etc.

Web pages are all ok it seems.

All I get is a warning that 'this operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this computer. Please contact your administrator'.

AFAIK I haven't changed anything.

I've disabled Kaspersky and all other security type programs, but no change.

I must be missing a basic tick box somewhere I think, but do you think I can find it ::b :cussing: :dunno:

Win 7 Pro 64 bit, Office 2010 professional plus.

Any ideas chaps?

Dave,
Not a repair job but try holding down the CTRL key and left clicking the links.

Which email is it that the links are not active?

Hi Dave

Any link in any email. I have tried the ctrl button as well.

It also won't let me click through when using word.

I have tried looking fo all security settings in general on my PC but have not found any that will change this back to working. :cb

Take a look at this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/310049 . Outlook is mentioned in the title, but the problem will also affect other applications.

Try a Sytem Restore to a date about a week ago when, I assume, the links were clickable. You will not lose any saved documents or files, but may have to update any software that has been updated recently.

Thanks CTR. That link worked and I followed the fix it for me and everything works fine now.

Thanks again Dave for your suggestions. Always appreciated.

I bet it lost the reg info mentioned in the fix, when I upgraded to ie9 then went back to ie8. IIRC it was about that time I first noticed the problem.

I would never know what to search for on the microsoft support to even come close to getting a solution.

Anyway, till the next calamity.

Thanks all :thumbright:
