Hi
I am about to install a 5kw undersink instant water heater.
I was hoping to tie into the ring main with a dp switch, or do I need to wire direct to fuse box with its own breaker?
Cheers

Too much power to add to a ring main. You will have to create a new circuit from the consumer unit.
Do you cook with gas? If you have a spare cooker circuit you could use that.

Thanks for help.
Out of interest, if I was to install 2 units same power would they both need their own circuit?

It will give recommended fuse rating for each heater. Doubling up on the circuit would mean you would need to protect it with a bigger circuit breaker than it should. So current rating of the fuse would be too big to protect each heater individually.
So answer to your question.. No you couldn't. Each one would need it's own circuit. 20/25 amp 4mm cable is the best probable solution

Why are you asking the same questions on different forums? The answers wont change ,you still cant wire it into the ring no matter how many times you ask!

Lot's of posters post on several forums, especially if they are new to the environment.
You may also have noticed we are having problems with the server, so he may not have been able to get back on.

Thanks for those with constructive help, new to forum scene so not sure which site is best or most appropriate, also unaware of rules of only posting on one site!
Once again thanks, have located a water heater circuit and getting electrician in to check spec before installation.
Cheers

You can post on as many forums as you like Kermit
Some are better than others and UHM is probably the best.
