Hi there, am wondering if anyone can help. We moved into a new house awhile back and everytime we use the washing machine or the dishwasher the waste water comes up into the sink. Is there an easy way to fix this problem? Also, probably because of this problem the pipes under the sink are filling up with debris and starting to make the sink smell. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks

Could be a blocked pipe, however more likely an issue with the pipe layout, any chance of a pic of the waste pipes and connections?

Hi there, am not sure how to attach picture!!! ..... We have one and a half sink set-up and a dishwasher and washing machine which both back up to the sink, and using the sink itself it backs up into the half sink and vice versa, so maybe a blockage then?

Forgot to come back to this yesterday...from the look of the photo (Could be the camera angle though) where the waste goes towards the back of the sink looks to be higher than the horizontal waste connecting to the two sink outlets..

Would it be poss to take more pics with the products removed so's we can see the pipework at the back of the sink?

That's fine wine~o apart from the washing machine is best in a standpipe.

The waste pipe is blocked, would be my best guess.

starting point if you want to DIY the job unscrew the 2 joints arrowed in red(You'll need a small bucket or similar to catch any water trapped) Make sure you note what/which way round th washers on the inside of the pipes go

Clear out any debris (Use the bathroom if flushing) reconnect and see if it has improved.
