hi

I have moved my washing machine and freezer to the adajent shed in my house this is more like a conservatory as it totaly sealed and water tight room, i wish to add one socket to power a freezer and the washing machine plus a light would running 2.5mm SWA from comsumer unit outside burried in polypipe (distance 6m) to a connection box with terminals be ok for this and SFU with a 3 amp fuse for the light bulb be suffice. The circuit will be on its own RCD or MCB but whatever is best (please quote).
Would this be ok and when i get a sparks to come and check or would he say it is unsafe?

Any help would be recicved with great thanks.

That falls under part P. You are not able to get an electrician in to certify it as they can only certify there own work and not some one elses.

If you do the work you need to notify the council and then get it inspected by them on completion and they will sign it off.

Hi Johnboy :welcomeuhm: .you ask about a wash room, which I believe is an Americanism for "utility room"

Where are you posting from?

There would be little point in passing the SWA through polypipe. Use proper black ducting or just bury the SWA into the ground.

Electrically a 2.5mm SWA would be fine to power a double socket and a FCU via a 20 RCBO/or RCD protected MCB in your CU. You do need to to know how to terminate SWA properly though to do the job.

By using a switched fuse connection unit as the light switch you get around the problem of having a consumer unit for just two circuits.

As already said likely the 2.5mm cable will be ample. However it will not matter if using LABC direct or if using a registored spark you will need to test the loop impedance before anyone can be 100% as to if it will comply.
