A couple of wallpaper murals done at the weekend. Hope you like them

First one is a classic double splice and seam mural. The image was gray scaled then we picked the lights out in colour

And the second is a HP pre-pasted 'exhibition' graphic mural. This is an istock image we printed to size

Certainly brought some life to the office. Shame about the conduit or cable cover to the light on the right.

Like the second pic. Nice work on both, though. The conduit has come out well, it is not very noticeable.

Of course the idea is an old one and my Aunty Hilda who used to live in Coronation Street up north, had one in her drawing room.

very much so ROC  , Though I think the difference today from the 70's is the quality of the prints and the fact you can customise them as opposed to having set dimensions and images. The one we did in the office is very much a 'traditional' or maybe typical scene for a wallpaper mural from yester year but even that I had scaled and printed to fit the wall perfectly. The possibilities now are far greater with what you can do.

further to this thread http://www.ultimatehandyman.co.uk/forum1/digital-image-hanging-mural-price-t49832.html

This is an extreme close up of a seam on the first mural, the area is about 2" square. You have to be careful not to overwork the seams or the print will start to come off

I like them, a lot.
Think it needs to be a big room, without clutter to make it work to full effect?

I gather they get printed up slightly over size, then trimmed to suit? Although the office one looks slightly shy of the ceiling bon the left?

I suppose if it was another 6" higher you lose the top of the mountain..... than it would look rubbish i reckon

Cheers hitch, it might not show in the photo but the coving goes down to that point so it's cut to the bottom of that, but your right if it was enlarged further you might lose the top of mountain further along ;)

What kind of resolution pictures do you use for this? What kind of mega-pixel camera would work best for this kind of work? I love it but can't imagine any of my digital camera's photos would stand up to this kind of magnification!

It looks excellent!

I'm guessing a photo that stands up such a magnification can only be taken with a professional camera. I would just order one to make sure it looks nice.
Great idea though...it can easily add a bit of pizzazz to any room!

It really depends on the size you are going to, something like the large office mural ( was around 9m from memory) then yes the quality does have to be of a professional standard but the other domestic mural ( just over 4m) that was taken with just a half decent digital camera, with a steady hand most cameras in the £180 plus range are capable of taking pictures that can be used. That said the printer and there artwork department do play a large part in the final outcome, so choose wisely ;)

They look great and I did not know that you can get them made to size.

Are they expensive to do as it could be something we do in the future?

Hmm. Probably a good £2k for the printer.
