Outside PIR settings

Post by Merton69 »

Hello All.

I have recently bought an outside lamp with a PIR.

But instead of the usual dials for the PIR setting it is a set of switches.

The instructions did not include anything on how to set them, therefore I have no clue on how to set them.

Has anyone come across such a lamp with switches rather than dials that could (scuse the pun) shed any light on this matter please?

Thanks.

What does google show in regard to the instructions? (I would have looked but you do not give any information about the actual light)
Fret not, a forum is a collection of opinions. Above, are mine.

Working on anything electrical? have you got a multi meter? why not? Would you hit a nail with a shoe?

They sound like what is called "DIP" switches.
They could control any of the light's parameters.
The only way to know for sure is to get the instructions.

Nothing moulded into the plastic, or on the board just out of sight?

Try Googling "PIR light DIP switches" or similar?

Thank you for your help so far.

I have googled the company Nartel and nothing comes up.
I contacted the seller but is not interested and now it is out of guarantee.
He blames it on Amazon, Amazon blame it on the seller. Got nowhere there!

If I can I will take it down and show the switches or dims (if that is what they are).

The light crops up on Ebay, and it appears to be branded "Nartel". The question now is to find Nartel and see if there are any instructions on line :-(

Ooops :welcomeuhm:

Merton69, If you have only just got it, why can't you send it back as "unfit for purpose"

Also, i do not understand how can it be out of guarantee if you have just got it? (Can you expand on that?)

On the other side of the coin, you could always try the switches and see what happens (But good luck with that one)

For what its worth I would send it back get a refund and buy a separate light and PIR, that way, when one fails you can just change it, not the whole light. I have a lot of PIR operated things in my garden, depending on which side they are determines how long they last, as one side gets a lot of sun and the other not so much, so after around 7 years the PIRs physically break (due to the UV Light) so I only have to change the PIR not what they control.

Oh, please don't say you paid more than £23 for it.

(Just saying, if you google Nartel, lots of information does come up, even other places who sell that light, but I don't suppose they would help you)

Hello and again thank you for your responses.

Some answers to your questions.....

Apologies, I miswrote in the opener. I should have said that I have recently had a look at the light, not recently bought the light.

I have googled the company, even down to google maps the company address which comes up with a house.

I paid about £12.00 for it through Amazon.

I have PM'd a seller on eBay who is selling the same lantern.

Hope this helps you all, helping me come to a positive outcome.

Thanks,
