Hi,
Just looking through the new Brewers deals - they advertise Johnstone's StainAway Matt - One coat stain blocking for smoke,nicotine and water stains. This StainAway Matt is WATER BASED Anyone used it?

Never used it, Bear in mind that any water based stain block (Zinsser or others) are just that stain blocks...
They just lock the stain in , they do not cover the stain. (A lot of people make this mistake and then complain that it didn't cover the stain)
You will still need to re-coat with emulsion or whatever after using a stain block.

Johnstone's StainAway Matt
Hi, I have used Johnstone's stain away on a number of occasions. The first was to cover a yellow nicotine stained ceiling, covered in 2 coats to a brilliant white (must leave a minimum of 4 hours between coats.
The second was to cover water damage on the ceiling and wall, again two coats required but what a great finish.
Easy to apply, easy to clean up equipment, very little smell, a great white finish just a little expensive.
