I just had a large concrete pad poured in my garden. It was mixed and pumped yesterday morning to the back of the garden. There's now a thin layer of light grey on top that's cracking and flaking. It's a bit thicker than a good coat of paint. Beneath it's darker and seem solid. I sent pictures to my builder and he says it's normal. Is he right?
Thanks

Re: Thin layer cracking and flaking on new concrete
I'm no expert on concrete, but I'd suspect that it may have been over tamped which has brought what's known as the *fat* to the top (basically, the actual cement dust) and that is what is laying on top and cracking.
One day it will all be firewood.
