Restart? You might need to reset the keyboard to default settings. Right click, Device Manager then Keyboard - search for updates? Dunno if this will help?

is this a laptop ?
do you have a FN key, sometimes rather than F1 you have to use the FN key as well to get the function
make and model of the machine
and operating system Windows 7,8,10 or if apple OSX version

Try a clean install of 10 BA.
I had endless trouble with an updated version of 7.
So I read what BillyGoat said about it ages ago, downloaded the Win 10 installation files from MS, and it's been great since.

Do you have a spare keyboard you can plug in ? if so try it
I would start off by physically cleaning it (with air or a paint brush)
As it the top row either the ribbon cable has come loose or its broke
What is the full model number ?

deffo sounds like a driver issue if another keyboard is the same, or a change in settings.

Is the FN Key stuck ?
https://www.keyboardtester.com/ hold the FN and press the F Keys and see if it works you may of turned on the Fn lock (changes the default of the Fn button) by accident

Re: sound up and down buttons [and others]f1-12 not working
seems to press about 1mm like the others
another thing i have noticed is if i try to insert say a letter in a word i will move the cursor and when left click sometimes the whole word highlights click again and the whole sentence click again back to one word and maybe several attempts before it just places the cursor mark in the correct place
