How to drain system with this?

So Im confident I know how to drain and refill my sealed central heating system I'm just not sure how I undo this and put the hose on without getting water everywhere..
Am I just being thick as usual haha?

Turn both of the valves off then bleed the rad. There shouldn't be (much) pressure in it then when you open it. Then open the valves again
