Paper over Zinsser Wallpaper Cover Up?

Post by Jim_K »

I've used Zinssers Wallpaper Cover Up to prime some vinyl wallpaper (intending to put emulsion over it). The Zinssers has done a brilliant job of adhering to the vinyl, but I think the walls would benefit from a layer of lining-paper before painting. I know I'm a terrible person for considering this  .

Will Wallrock Fibreliner (using Wallrock Power Adhesive) adhere to the Zinssers Wallpaper Cover Up? Or will it'll need a coat of emulsion first?

Thanks,
Jim

PS. The vinyl wallpaper was simply too well stuck. Nothing would shift it apart from a chisel.

Wallpaper Cover Up is an excellent product. One of its benefits is that it will provide a good surface for emulsion to stick to so I don't see any reason why lining paper wouldn't stick to it. It wouldn't do any harm, and wouldn't take long, to size the walls first.

Why do you think you need to line the walls?

It should be ok..but I would do a test piece first

The surface of the vinyl should have peeled from the backing paper easy..
I intend to live forever......So far, so good

A waste of Zinserr wallpaper cover up me thinks, should have just stripped the paper off and lined your walls.
