Hi fellow Tool handlers
I am looking to purchase a propane/mapp gas torch that will burn the hottest for multi usage.
None of the makers include temp rate in detail,or in sds sheets(that i could find anyway)
I was looking at bernzomatics range -: ts4000 , ts8000 and their mini oxy kit.
Can anyone please tell me the burn temp. Of these or similar makes
Thanks for the time given
JB

Re: What type of gas torch to buy
Hi, May be of interest that I have a TS4000 that I bought about 40 years ago and have used it quite a bit, mostly central heating and hot water pipe soldering. I wouldn't be without it - only issue was about 2 years ago the Piezo failed and they don't seem to sell them as spare part. Little bit of lateral thinking and replaced it with one from a gas hob ignition lighter (longer wire than cigarette lighters and only about £2 from Tescos). I have used it with Mapp gas, but only if I happen to run out of Propane.
I used the Mapp gas for a while with Oxygen instead of Acetylene for car bodywork, but can't get the intensity, so have gone back to Oxy-Acetylene. Depends what work you expect to be doing with it, but as a general purpose torch, I am completely satisfied with it.
