I've been watching a guy on YouTube called Alan Hart. He seems a decent fella and I watched this a few nights ago. I'm not sure I'd use it myself but I suppose everyone is a bit dubious of new technology.





Has anyone used this? Or will more to the point will anyone admit to using this? Maybe Chez could do a video at some point.

There's so many good non-solder options out there, and mostly removable too, I don't see why this product is needed.

I think someone mentioned it's good in places where you need a permit for hot works and compression joints aren't desired.

That's fair enough but I imagine that to be a pretty rare situation and certainly not anything you are going to come across in a domestic situation.

Time's money for professionals.
Easy too by the look of it.
Why not use it? You don't have to have the skills to make wiped joints if you want to do some plumbing. That's gone years ago.
What's so special about soldering if there's an alternative?

I saw that a while back but I think this is different stuff. The one Chez done doesn't seem to have taken off.

As Dave says if you can avoid soldering why not. Plus it may be good for a DIYer. I just wondered if anyone has used it. I would be reluctant to use it until it had years worth of good reviews.

I'd also be interested to know how long it lasts in the bottle. At least one advantage to solder is that it never goes off

I was looking to see exactly that about some other anaerobic adhesive / sealant a while back.
It seems that it's OK to use "out of date" as long as it looks OK, but only for "non critical applications"
That was just one place though. There might be other advice.
A site I looked on had people saying that they'd used all sorts way out of date and not had any failures. That was mostly threadlocker though.
I'd say domestic water is mostly a "critical application" as you don't want leaks.
It's another of those things where you have to decide for yourself though.
Solder is "safe" as you say. OTOH, it's a damn nuisance when your gas canister runs out on a Sunday morning and you don't live near a supplier!

I must admit I was sceptical for years on pushfit fittings. I always did compression or soldered joints but gradually I switched to copper pushfit fittings and they seem to have worked well for me. I must say I would distrust this method in the same way as I did in respect of pushfit and I am too old now to change again. I am summoning up the enthusiasm to revamp our main bathroom but I will stick with what I know when I get my arse in gear to start.
