Cheapest way of excavation disposal?

Hi,

I am starting an excavation next year which involves the removal of roughly 420 tonnes of soil, any ideas on the cheapest way of disposal?

what is the soil like and what can it be used for. is it contaminated in any way
That is a lot of soil assuming 1.5 tonnes per cu metre, if it is a topsoil supplier might take it off of your hands or a farmer wanting to fill in dips in fields.
You could advertiise in the likes of gumtree, freecycle etc but people are unlikely to have the required handling equipment to shift it quickly

Just to land fill it £10-60 a tonne plus tax (depending on its state) and that's with out the soil being analysed or transported up to £150 a tonne if its brown field contaminated by asbestos

Don't forget depending where you are you may need permits to move it and highways permits on top

EDIT. 8 wheel tippers are circa 19 tonnes so 23 loads but allow +10-20%

its the sort of job you contract out to a specialist tbh

Speak to a local farmer and see if they need any holes filled.

They may be willing to dig & dump. Failing that, hire a 8wheeled grab lorry with driver for a coupe of days & grab from your place & dump it in farmers field.

Or just pay for the grab lorry company to uplift @£150-£180 per 18ton load. So ~£4K....

Soil is pretty good for the first 2m and then sandy, no contamination and no asbestos on site.

I am in the process of seeking planning for an 8m x 10m underground garage in my back garden.

The dig out is looking to be one of the biggest costs within the budget.

I suppose if I fill my trousers every time I take the dog out should be done in around 50 years.

On a more serious note been in touch with a farmer I know whos said he will take the whole lot just need to get it there, cheers for the ideas though not something I would of thought about.

Expect a few more questions on this project as i go along, the concreteing and drainage should be fun.

If its going to be for an underground carpark should you not consider drainage during the build? Otherwise, it may turn out to be an inground swimming pool.

Its a 3 car garage.

Will be fully tanked as per building regs and drawings, they've given a spec for a channelled for drainage with a 2000L rainwater water storage tank below with sump pumps in place for those rainy days.

My only advice is to get it done professionally

There are so many potential hazards and liabilities to not doing it right

With that amount of excavation you do not want to run afoul of local regs
