Oven bulb keeps blowing
Hi chaps. I've had a Leisure electric range cooker for about 7yrs and it's had the same oven bulb in the fan oven until last week when it popped. Since then I've put 4 in but each one only lasts about 2 minutes. Two of them were quality bulbs too.
Why would a bulb keep popping? I looked in the holded and it seems OK to me.

Still got the old bulb? Show the old and new together.
What does the manual say - does it give a part number? If so, suggest you get one that the manufacturer supplies, not a third party outlet.

Don't take it personally......

Re: Oven bulb keeps blowing
Are you using a correct specification oven bulb designed to withstand high temperatures? Ordinary "pygmy" bulbs might look right, but aren't the real McCoy.
Also, before sourcing a new bulb, do your research - LED versions are now available if you look hard enough.
Or are you saying the replacements go pop without the oven being on? In which case, as above, check out the OEM spare part.

Re: Oven bulb keeps blowing
They were all correct high temp oven bulbs. The last one was even from an appliance repair centre near me.
They are popping about 30 seconds to a minute into the oven being switched on.

There is your problem, they will buy in the cheapest items they can, so they make the most profit.themoog wrote:They were all correct high temp oven bulbs. The last one was even from an appliance repair centre near me.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.

Re: Oven bulb keeps blowing
It might be worth checking the lamp holder is OK and the bulb is a good fit in it and making good contact with the contact on the end,
Electric off before you poke around in it of course.
