Hi All,
I am going to be fitting some raised decking for my brother in law. It is a large area, 5.5m by 7.5m. How far apart should I lay the posts? I was thinking 1m per post but not sure if that is too close?
Thanks in advance

Re: Decking posts
Do you mean the joists?
Either 400 or 600mm centres are the norm

Re: Decking posts
Ok, 1 metre should suffice then. I did a similar job recently and had 4 posts postcreted in over 4.2m. Solid as a rock.Gun7h3r wrote:Sorry not the joists, the posts going into the ground to support the frame

Re: Decking posts
I am going to put a ledger bolted to the outside of the wall. Do you think 18 posts will be enough? 3 rows of 6 from the wall ?
Because of the size what would you suggest would be the best way to lay the joists?

If the boards are thick enough then 600 centres should be ok.
