Lighting Wiring

Hi,

I had some work done on some kitchen lights (they switched one light into 4 spots). I have reattached 2 lights on a 2 gang switch in the living room and when turned on they turn all 4 spots turn on!

The living room lights are wired as per photos below...

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry, your question is?

If all 4 lights come on at the same time they can not be wired as per diagram. The diagram is correct, for two single lights.

When I turn the living room lights on, the kitchen lights come on but at about half the brightness. Is there a simple reason/fix?

The wiring diagrams are for the living room.

I would say the neutral is in the wrong terminal, and it's actually back feeding via the other lights.

Issue is deffo not at the switches then. Must be the rewiring at the light point that you re wired. Pics when you can.

I didn't wire the spots, only the replacment lights in the living room, with the wiring shown in my original post.

Nice (and clear and in focus) that the pictures are they don't help that much.

But let me see if I have this right,
Two spotlights were taken down, and when you put them back, when you switch on one, the other comes on at 50%?

possably a bad fitting - remove a bulb at a time and test

edit. or is that supposed to be 2 way switching from the lounge - what did the double switch use to do ?

if you turn on the lounge lights and the kitchen lights what happens ? or just the kitchen ones ? are the new lights led bulbs ?

Living Room (I have just wired)
2 lights
2 gang switch (1 way? left switch controls left light, right controls right light)

Kitchen (pre existing)
4 spots joined by junction box
1 gang (1 way)

When I turn on one living room light, the kitchen lights come on at approx. half brightness.
When I turn on both living room lights, they don't work properly, and kitchen lights come on as above.
If the kitchen lights are on, the living room lights won't function at all

As I said in the first place they are NOT wired as per your diagram.
You have got one wire wrong, my guess is you have a neutral connected to a switched live.

It has to be where you reconnected the lights since they were working as they should before you did any thing.

How are the kitchen lights wired, inline with one another ? the JB in angle 1 looks to be correct, left pair are the ring in/out - right side top cable is your switch, The lower is connection to the lights (black and brown)

As I said above remove a bulb at a time in the kitchen
