TV Wall mount onto concrete (Help and advice needed)

Post by james707 »

Hi all,

Novice home DIYer here... I have today tried to install a tv mount for my tv. The bottom two holes have screwed in fine and secure, however the top two are loose! and it isn't sturdy enough when I then fit my tv onto this and they start to pull away.

They are 3 inch deep screws which were put through the lead anchors which have been drilled into a concrete wall.

I would prefer not to remove it and re-do it and I would prefer to glue the top to the concrete if this would be possible? and if anyone can advise what product I should use then that would be great. Alternatively if you have any better suggestions instead of me having to completely remove it then this would be highly appreciated.

On top of this, If there is a remover which goes with it which will dissolve it when I come to move out of my house that would be incredible.

Thanks!

If possible I'd either use a bigger plug (e.g. Fischer Duopower) or Fischer UX, or redrill slightly larger and use a bigger (standard) plug, or possibly use a product such as Fischer Wet.n.Fix

I wouldn't trust any sort of glue for a job like that.

There must be a reason why two holes are working and two are not, are you sure the wall is concrete - that's a bit unusual unless it's concrete blocks, when the holes could be in a joint and you might always struggle to get a fix. Did you use an SDS drill and get a good clean hole with no spread?

I'd suggest either re-drilling the top two holes, (you might have to go up one size of drill, plug and screw) and use a conventional nylon plug of good quality - or move the bracket down so that the bottom holes which are working become the new top holes and drill two new bottom holes.
One day it will all be firewood.

I agree with ajay, are you 100% sure its concrete? it doesn't sound like it.

Would you hit a nail with a shoe because you don't have a hammer? of course not, then why work on anything electrical without a means of testing Click Here to buy a "tester" just because it works, does NOT mean it is safe.
