Is my wood redwood?

Post by Ross80 »

Hi, hope you can help. I ordered a lot of redwood battens to make a fence. On delivery, the finish/look/feel of the timber is completely different to the sample they gave me. The supplier insists its redwood and will weather to look like the sample. My carpenter suspects it’s a generic softwood and not redwood. How can I tell for sure? Here’s a picture, hope you can access it. https://photos.app.goo.gl/8UQ5b2AtC3BsmtuR7

Its treated redwood, Redwood is a softwood it just doesn't rot as quickly it also depends on where it originates from
