Joinery advice

Hi just looking for some advice. I've been working for the past 10 years with power tools in production manufacturing. E.g. kitchen worktops, joints etc I've recently applied to go back to college and enrolled on level 2 diploma carpentry and joinery which is 2 nights a week for a year. My question is , Will this help me get a better paid job as a joiner as bench hand joiner or shopfitting . Or maybe help me go into the maintenance field. I can already plaster and very good with my hands.
