I think the vast majority of people have not realised what a debacle the whole diesel thing is going to be. The vehicles I see for sale are either commercial type or Petrol head cars, so things like nice Focus's, Subaru's etc.
There is some satisfaction driving along the road behind a transit chucking out a james bond style cloud of smoke and thinking " you won't be on the road much longer mate!"

As to air-con, I would never buy a vehicle without it. Lots of other gadgets are nice, cruise control, electric windows etc, but the only one I care about is air-con.
