Which exterior paint over old gloss ?

Post by trogg »

Hi, doing up an old house which has Black gloss on all exterior lintels, (wood and concrete) sills and all outside doors etc.
What I want to do is to brighten it up using a lighter colour, probably Grey will a modern gloss paint be ok ?

An oil based undercoat and gloss would be ideal for this. Just sand and dust down then put the undercoat on, it might be a good idea to do two coats of undercoat to cover the black up.

Personally i would use Crown trade u/c and gloss as its good gear for the money, dulux trade is also good but a little more in price. Both perform well as long as the prep is good.
