Anti-Mould Paint or Anti-Condensation Paint or both?

Post by thecrater »

Hi,
I have a condensation problem with the bedroom external wall in my flat. I had originally used an additive to the paint and it worked fine but that was over 7 years ago.

I've been looking at repainting the affected areas in order to prevent black mould and was wondering whether i should go for anti-mould or anti-condensation paint. Does anyone have any experience with either. What would you recommend? Is it possible to use both? are there better alternatives i.e. different makes etc not things such as dehumidifiers and ventilation which we are already using.

Thank you in advance

I’d be addressing the condensation problem first and foremost.
Carpentry,I can explain it to you but I cannot understand it for you.

hi,

I have that problem, the worst being in the bathroom.

you need to assess what it is likely to be. condensation could be typically if you dry clothes in the house, or there is water vapour somewhere that traps in your bedroom. it could also be not enough or efficient airflow in your bedroom.

loads of websites that explain the subject. for my bathroom, although there is a big window, there was no where for the steam to go so it settled on a cold wall usually an external wall.

in order to actually paint there is lots of products out there that cater for your issue. better than 10 years ago.

do the homework first or otherwise you'll keep having the issue

good luck

If you are using a dehumidifier, why are you still getting problems with condensation?

Do any neighbours below and above you have the same issue? If they have mold and not condensation then use anti mold.
