Damp proofing a Victorian coal shed

Hi

I am looking to get our coal shed damp proofed so it can be more useful. We had a quote for 5k for it to be done to a very high (basically liveable) standard which I dont think is unreasonable but I would love to do as much of the work as possible myself so thought I'd ask some generous people online for a bit of guidance.

As you can see in the photos there is what Im pretty sure is a water pipe and maybe... another water pipe? covered in something that has gone seriously rusty. These run down the left side wall.

The floor seems quite dry its just the roof and side walls that are really wet. Above this is a shared out door walkway which leads to the door for all the above flats. Water seems to be coming in from above as well as the sides judging by the stalactites in the photo.

It's quite a low ceiling so ideally want to avoid losing height on it.

Any and all suggestions are much appreciated

First thing to ask is ... is there any ventilation in the coal shed. You would need at least 2 air vents to keep it dry no matter what else you do.

When you say "shed" is that a shed or a cellar?
The curved roof made me wonder.

I looked at that, thought "coal shute" and still it didn't click!

Firstly thank you for your thoughts and greetings I really appreciate them!

Coal shed as pointed out, its actually within about 4m of the front door, initially we were thinking about extending the outdoor space between the two doors and moving the front door forward so it was all "inside" but all the gas meters for the entire building are in it so thought moving those would be difficult and/or very expensive.

Besides the door not fitting very well there is no ventilation. Are we talking about making 2 holes at either end and putting some of those holy bricks in them or do you think something more serious is needed? what sort of options are there? It is ridiculously damp in there, the inside of the door has massive droplets on it 24/7 and you cant put much in there without it gathering mould.
